Tonight the legendary career of Joe Kubert comes to a close. Kubert passes at 85.
Kubert began his career in creating comics at age 12 and would later grow up to create influential work in DC Comics with ‘Sgt. Rock’ and ‘Hawkman’.
He also gave other young artists a chance to see that creating comics was more than just a pipe dream but that an actual career could be made. In 1976, Kubert created the Joe Kubert School of Cartoon and Graphic Art. His school provided an intensive three year course in creating sequential art and understanding of the comic industry.
Mr. Kubert was a artist, writer, editor, teacher and father to Andy and Adam Kubert, both comic legends in their own right.
He has defined and redefined the comic book and his absence will be felt for years to come.
